The Light Shines
Old Testament prophecy fulfilled by Jesus:
He would be a light to the Gentiles. (continued)
Last week I wrote about Jesus fulfilling the words of the prophet Isaiah-that Jesus would be the light not only to His own people, but also to the gentiles (nations). I showed how Simeon was given the blessing to hold THE LIGHT in his arms.
This week, I want to show how Jesus fulfilled the words of Isaiah during His ministry.
First, Jesus proclaimed that He was the Light:
12 Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; the one who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” John 8:12
The apostle John was clear when he wrote, “In Him was life, and the life was the light of man.” John 1:4
Jesus said, “While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” John 9:5.
Jesus said, “I have come as light into the world, that everyone who believes in Me may not remain in darkness.” John 12:46.
Many people live in darkness. They are blinded by the enemy which makes it hard for them to believe that Jesus is the light. Darkness can never overtake the light. But God’s light can pierce the darkness.
“For God, who said, ‘Light shall shine out of darkness,’ is the One who has shone in our hearts to give light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:6
Jesus, the Light of the World, is a light to all nations. Just as God told the prophet Isaiah.
