How are We "Saved"?
How are we saved?
Recently, I’ve written on this blog about the most important topics possible.
First, I wrote to answer this question:
Who is the Savior? Jesus, the Messiah.
Then I wrote about the next question:
What are we saved FROM? Our sins.
So we have a Savior (Jesus, the Messiah) who can save us from our sins.
But HOW does the Savior save us from our sins? We will consider this question.
First, we understand that every soul that has ever lived has sinned. No matter how moral we are. No matter how honest, hardworking or “good” we are in the eyes of the world. God’s Word tells us straight out that everyone is a sinner.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23.
We all inherited our sin nature from Adam and Eve after their fall in the Garden of Eden. Sin entered the lives of every person from that point on.
By the time of Moses, God gave the Law to show people what sin was. People saw they were sinners as it was impossible to perfectly keep the Law.
Our holy God cannot allow sin in His presence. Since we are all sinners, how can we get to God?
From the very beginning, our loving God made a way. The plan was that His son Jesus, THE SAVIOR, would willingly take on Himself every sin from every soul. When a soul put their faith and trust in Jesus – He would remove their sin.
In other words, when I believed that Jesus is my Savior, He took all of my sins on Himself. He took my sins and instead clothed me in His righteousness. So, when God the father looks on my soul-my sins are gone and all He sees is the righteousness of His son.
How does this transformation happen? God’s word tells us how.
Sin brings death (eternal separation from God), but God offers the gift of eternal life with Him:
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23.
This gift is available to all people:
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13.
How does anyone call of the name of the LORD? By believing that Jesus is the Son of God and paid for your sins through His sacrificial death on the cross.
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.” John 5:24.
“For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him.” John 3:17.
“Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am, you will die in your sins.” John 8:24.
“ If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I John 1:9.
“And after he brought them out, he said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31 They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved . . . “ Acts 16:30-31.
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name, 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of a man, but of God.” John 1:12-13.
“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9.
“The one who believes in the Son has eternal life; but the one who does not [a]obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” John 3:36.
“The one who has the Son has the life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.” I John 5:12.
“These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.” I John 5:13.
“That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, [resulting in salvation.” Romans 10:9-10.
“Therefore, having been justified by faith, [a]we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1.
It sounds too easy, doesn’t it. To exchange your sins for the righteousness of Jesus. To receive the free gift of eternal life and all you must do is believe in Jesus. To put your faith and trust in Jesus, the Messiah. To believe that Jesus paid for your sins.
It is that simple.
In every generations, some souls will reject the free gift of eternal life, and refuse to believe it.
“For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:18.
My prayer is that these verses wash over your soul. If you have never accepted the free gift of eternal life from Jesus, that you would listen to the Holy Spirit’s leading and believe.
